Mr. Dodd grew up in upstate New York but has called Cleveland home since 1990.  He is a rabid fan of all Cleveland sports - for better or worse.

Mr. Dodd graduated from Case Western Reserve University School of Law in 2000, and began working as a lawyer for a law firm in Pepper Pike, Ohio that had broken off of the law firm previously known as Walter Haverfield.  As a new lawyer in a small but sophisticated law firm, Mr. Dodd's work involved documenting and closing real estate and business loans for local banks, corporate documents and transactions, and residential and commercial real estate transactions, 1031 exchanges, and public bond financing transactions.  His work also included first and second chair experience in all aspects of general civil and commercial litigation and appellate advocacy in state and federal courts.

In 2007, Mr. Dodd moved to the law firm Meyers, Roman, Friedberg & Lewis in Woodmere, Ohio, and became a partner in that firm shortly thereafter.  While working at that firm, Mr. Dodd's practice focused on business and commercial litigation, including contract and business disputes, employment litigation, trade secret and non-compete litigation, real estate and construction litigation, and bond litigation.  His practice had a heavy emphasis in representing lenders and court-appointed receivers in state and federal commercial loan and foreclosure litigation.

 

In 2011, Mr. Dodd and several other attorneys set up their own law firm in Chagrin Falls, Ohio, where Mr. Dodd's litigation practice continued, with an emphasis on litigation in the health care arena and in representation of the owners and operators of long-term care facilities.

 

In 2016, Mr. Dodd set up his own law firm where he continues to handle a caseload of business and commercial litigation.

 

Mr. Dodd has more than thirty reported cases, and has acted as an expert witness in numerous litigation matters involving claims related to attorneys' fees and legal malpractice.
 

Mr. Dodd is admitted to practice in all Ohio courts, the United States District Courts for the Northern and Southern Districts of Ohio, the United States Bankruptcy Court for the Northern District of Ohio, and the United States Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit.  Mr. Dodd has also been admitted to practice before other federal courts in Pennsylvania and Florida.

Mr. Dodd was recognized by the Ohio Super Lawyers Magazine as a "Rising Star" in 2009, 2011, 2012, and 2014, and as a "Super Lawyer" in 2026, a designation earned by roughly 5% of Ohio lawyers by nominations from fellow attorneys.

 

In his spare time, Mr. Dodd enjoys spending time with his family, spends countless hours at travel baseball tournaments in Ohio and around the United States, and has cycled many thousands of miles - both for charities and competitively - in the Pedal to the Point (MS Society), the Pan Ohio Hope Ride (American Cancer Society), and several UCI-sanctioned races, including the Gran Fondo New York and the Gran Fondo Hincapie.
